Cáceres is the capital of its province, with the same name, and part of the community of Extremadura which is located west of Madrid toward Portugal. All the city buildings seem to be constructed of the same distinct type of rock and mortar that is almost radiant, and very unique compared to other cities in Spain. The ivy and bouganvillea provide a punch of color on the earthy backdrop of the buildings. After seeing many Spanish cities, the uniqueness of Cáceres was certainly refreshing.

A brief history
The city of Cáceres has a far reaching history, dating back to prehistoric times, with occupations by the Romans, and the Moors and remains from the Jewish culture as well.
