Ahhh, Andalucia, my very favorite region in Spain (although Galicia has potential to overtake first place)! Nothing is more Spanish than the South – the weather, the food, the architecture, even the people (they say the most beautiful Spanish women can be found in Cordoba!). Andalucia is the source of Flamenco, gazpacho, and the very best olive oil.
Once called Al-Andalus, Andalucia was the center of power of the medieval Muslim-dominated Iberia. Prior to Muslim rule it was Roman, and after the Muslims it was taken over by the Christians in the Reconquista. The southernmost community is rich in history and a part of Spain that is worth exploring.
