Oh, it’s been years since I’ve been to Toledo! I used to go there occasionally when I lived in Madrid, it’s a nice place. Great photos!

It is a really special place. And good thing I can never get sick of it – I have a guest coming in two weeks who just requested last night that we go there – AGAIN!

I was only able to make a day-trip to Toledo during my last visit to Madrid. I can’t wait to go back! At least I caught the highlights: http://goo.gl/G0yMP

I do think a day is all you really need, but it’s a day worth doing many times over
. Thanks for sharing your post!

What an amazing place to study! Did you get to live in the casco antiguo?

Sorry for your last comment, not sure how that happened! But I wanted to say gorgeous pictures & I’m sooo jealous that you can take day trips to such special places.

I’m hoping to revisit Toledo on my next trip to Spain this summer. Do you know if the Alcazar is open now? The last time I was there it was closed for a time. I’m doing some research into my husband’s family history and it requires a trip inside.

@Andi – thanks! I’m kinda, sorta, pretty jealous of your trips too!!
@Heather – yes – it’s finally open! It was closed for years, but has been open the last two times I’ve gone (and yet, I still haven’t checked it out!).

Lovely in every sense of the word. Just like it’s author!
Actually featured it in my “best of Spanish travel blogs in January” here: http://myspanishadventure.com/2012/best-of-the-spanish-travel-blogs-january/
Congrats!

A couple of years ago,I actually got lost in Toledo! I have absolutely no idea where I went but the streets/alleys were super narrow and deserted. I really began to panic until a man happened to come out and guided me out to a street close to the house of El Greco!

Oh no!!! I think getting lost in Toledo has the potential to be enjoyable – but definitely NOT if you actually can’t find your way out! The first time I went there was during my first visit to Spain – I went by myself and hardly knew any Spanish. I remember purposely avoiding heading down too many alleys for fear that I wouldn’t really find my way out (or I’d get robbed or something). I can imagine panic would have for sure set in for me too if that had happened to me on that first trip!
